'The First Time After 2000 Years': Israel's Biblical Red Heifers Attract World Attention

SHILOH, Israel – In September 2022, the arrival of five red heifers in Israel caught the world's attention. Now, more than two years later, those cows are being cared for in ancient Shiloh and continue to attract international visitors.

Moriah Shapira is the manager of the visitor center at ancient Shiloh. She told us why the red heifers are so important.

"Here in Shiloh for the first time after 2000 years, we have real kosher red heifers, which is really exciting," she explained.

She added, "In the Bible it says when a person wants to enter the Temple, which is called the House of Life, he has to go through a process using ashes of the red heifer, meaning that the red heifers are actually the key to the Temple."

Shapira described the process is for purification to cleanse someone from death.

So, a person that got in contact with death, either in a funeral, or in a hospital, and he wants to enter the Temple which is called the House of Life, full of the Presence of God, has to go through this process. And the process is – the priest used to take the ashes of the red heifer, mix it with water that comes from a spring – life water – he's actually taking the source of death, mixing it with source of life, and these together become the purifying water," Shapira explained.

Jewish tradition maintains that the red heifer ashes are needed to rebuild the Third Temple. Some Christians believe a Third Temple would pave the way for the end times.

Even Hamas reportedly blamed the red heifers in part for their invasion on October 7th, 2023, because of their belief that Jerusalem's Al Aqsa Mosque would be in danger if the heifers were used to build the Third Temple.

The animals are also mentioned in the Book of Numbers, Chapter 19:

Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, "This is the statute of the law which the Lord has commanded, saying 'Speak to the sons of Israel that they bring you an unblemished red heifer in which there is no defect and on which a yoke has never been mounted. And you shall give it to Eleazar the priest, and it shall be brought outside the camp and be slaughtered in his presence.'"

For a heifer to be selected these qualifications must be met:
. Be an adult cow with reddish-brown hair
. No hairs of a different color
. No blemishes
. Never used for any other purpose

We were able to see the Heifers on our visit to Shiloh. Two have already been disqualified, but only one is needed to qualify for the purification for the Temple.

Larry Borntrager, a farmer from northern Indiana, takes care of them.

He told us, "My next point is to try to find a farmer who can make hay, which is, you know, the flowers and the leaves and everything stay on them. That way it's just better for the cow."

Borntrager admitted, "It's just a lot of fun to be involved in something that I see God is doing behind the scenes."

He says what he's experienced since arriving here is remarkable.

"While I've been standing here at Shiloh, every continent, countries I've never heard of before, were here to see the red heifers. There's something happening in Shiloh," he observed.

Borntrager also believes it's biblically significant.

"Ideas are becoming a reality. In other words, the idea of a red heifer has been in the Jewish understanding over a couple thousand years. But here at Shiloh, just like it says in Genesis 49, there's something happening here that's drawing the nations, and it's the red heifers.

In this area, Hannah prayed for a son where the prophet Samuel served the Lord and Joshua divided the land between the twelve tribes.

Moria Shapira identified it as "the place where many stories of the bible occurred. And today we also have here the red heifers, which is something new," she said. "The budgets for this visitor center stopped because of the war (with Hamas and Hezbollah). So we invite whoever wants to be part with us to help this very important thing of the red heifers."

During our visit, Bible teacher Dr. Todd Fink brought his group to see the red heifers. "Shiloh has so much significance," he said. "It was the spiritual capital of Israel for 369 years."

"This is huge. This is huge," he exclaimed. "And the one gal that we, that was giving us the tour, she said that part of the reason why Hamas invaded is because of these red heifers. And according to prophecy, these red heifers are significant. From the time of Israel's history, they say that only nine have been killed for these ashes. And so for these to be here, and Shiloh here, and for that to fit in with what appears to be prophecy on the horizon, we're living in monumental days, unbelievable times."

Egipat je doneo odluku da zatvori manastir Svete Katarine Sinajske, najstariji aktivni hrišćanski manastir na svetu, skoro 15 vekova od njegovog osnivanja

Pored konfiskacije imovine, Egipat planira i da iseli monahe, kako bi prazne zgrade mogle da se pretvore u turističku atrakciju, a monasi, koji smatraju da ova odluka krši njihova prava, pripremaju globalnu mobilizacionu i informativnu kampanju za sve hrišćanske crkve i druge monoteističke religije.

Egipatske vlasti donele su ovu ovluku uprkos obećanjima koja je egipatski predsednik Abdel Fatal el Sisi dao grčkom premijeru Kirijakosu Micotakisu tokom njegove nedavne posete Grčkoj. Egipatski sud doneo je odluku o zatvaranju u sredu, a izvori su za ''Grik riporter'' rekli da vlast u Kairu vrši sudski pritisak i pokreće napade još od perioda kada su ''Muslimanska braća“, koja se zalažu za uvođenje šerijata, bila na vlasti, sistematski pokušavajući da zatvori najstariji manastir na svetu

Manastir Svete Katarine je sagrađen na mestu ispod Sinajske gore, u Egiptu, gde se prema Starom zavetu Gospod obratio proroku Mojsiju oko 1400. godine pre Hrista, kod nesagorive kupine.

Godine 330. na tom mestu carica Jelena, majka cara Konstantina Velikog, podigla je kapelu posvećenu Bogorodici. Uz tu kapelu odlukom cara Justinijana I (527-565) i carice Teodore gradi se crkva, trobrodna bazilika od crvenog granita kojim obiluju sinajske planine.

Mojsije je tu, na mestu sadašnjeg manastira, video plameni oganj u žbunu kupine koji gori, a ne sagoreva, i čuo je glas anđela Božijeg: „Mojsije! Mojsije! Izuj obuću svoju s nogu svojih, jer je mesto gde stojiš sveta zemlja“.

U okviru manastira nalazi se i bunar, gde je Mojsije prvi put video i upoznao svoju ženu.

Kupinov žbun je jedinstven u svetu. Pokušavali su ljudi da presade njegove mladice na neko drugo mesto, ali se nigde nisu primile. Delovi nesagorive kupine su slati na analize u relevantne laboratorije, gde je utvrđeno da je kupina verovatno stara koliko i Mojsije.

Manastir je okružen najvišim vrhovima granitne planine Sinajske gore — vrh Sveta Katarina ima 2.642 metra nadmorske visine, dok Mojsijev vrh ima 2.285 metara nadmorske visine.

Crkveni objekti su, pre svega u odbrambene svrhe, opasani četvorougaonim kamenim zidinama sa četiri kule. Godine 542. car Justinijan i carica Teodora otpočeli su gradnju nove crkve i monaškog konaka.

Unutrašnjost crkve ukrašena je krajem VI veka. Ime Sveta Katarina nosi od IX veka, kada su mošti te velikomučenice, rođene u Aleksandriji 294. godine, prenete sa vrha Sinajske gore u manastir, gde i danas počivaju.

Manastir poseduje drugu najveću zbirku rukopisnih knjiga na svetu, koja broji više od 3.500 knjiga i od koje je veća jedino rukopisna zbirka koja se čuva u Vatikanu.

U manastirskoj zbirci se do polovine XIX veka nalazio Sinajski kodeks, najstariji prepis Biblije, sačinjen u IV veku, koji je danas izložen u Britanskom muzeju u Londonu.

U manastiru se čuva i sporazum o izuzeću, dokument sa otiskom Muhamedove ruke, koji su, prema predanju, monasi manastira dobili lično od Muhameda 625. godine, kada su, da bi sačuvali manastir od muslimanske najezde, otišli u Medinu i zatražili pomoć od muslimanskog proroka.

Muhamed je napisao dokument u kojem zahteva da se manastir zaštiti i zapečatio ga je otiskom svoje ruke. Ali bojeći se da to neće biti dovoljno da zaštite manastir kada ga je u XI veku fatimidski kalif opkolio sa trupama, monasi su kalifu poslali pregršt blaga iz bogate manastirske riznice, a preko noći, za svaki slučaj, srušili su trpezariju i sazidali džamiju sa minaretom koji se vidi preko zidina izvan manastira.

Naravno, kalif nije razrušio manastir, a minaret i danas postoji, pa je ovaj manastir jedinstveno mesto u čijoj unutrašnjosti se nalazi i muslimanska bogomolja.

Manastirske riznice čuvaju i najstarije enkaustične ikone koje su se izrađivale do VII veka, a sačuvane sinajske potiču iz vremena kada je nastao i mozaik u oltaru.

U VI veku izrađena je Ikona Hrista Pantokratora, najstarija sačuvana ikona Hristova, na kojoj su slikovito prikazane dve prirode Gospoda Isusa Hrista — božanska i ljudska. Sačuvane su i ikone Svetog Petra, Bogorodice sa anđelima i svetih ratnika rađene u istoj tehnici.

U manastirsku riznicu grčki sveštenici puštaju samo pravoslavce.

Za Manastir Svete Katarine na Sinaju vezan je i deo srpske istorije. Poznato je da je car Justinijan još u VI veku doveo desetak porodica sa prostora današnje reke Drine i naselio ih uz sam manastir sa ciljem da čuvaju manastir.

Za deo današnjih Beduina koji naseljavaju okolinu manastira se smatra da su potomci starih Srba sa područja današnje Srbije. Zanimljivo je i to da su oni jedina zajednica u svetu pored Srba čiji pripadnici imaju i slave porodične slave.

Sveti Sava na svom drugom putovanju po svetim mestima boravio je na Sinaju 1234. godine. Tu je proveo čitav časni post, moleći se za svoj srpski rod i čitav hrišćanski narod.

Manastiru su sveti kraljevi Dragutin i Milutin darovali brojne poklone koji se čuvaju u manastirskom muzeju i biblioteci. U manastiru se nalazi prvi srpski psaltir.

Srpski, odnosno Sinajski psaltir ili Dimitrijevi zapisi je starosrpski (srpska redakcija staroslovenskog jezika) crkveni rukopis iz XI veka i predstavlja najstariji sačuvani psaltir na staroslovenskom jeziku.

Pronađen je u Manastiru Svete Katarine na Sinaju po kojem i nosi naziv i gde se još čuva, još se naziva i Dimitrijevim zapisom po autoru, za sada najstarijem srpskom književniku Dimitriju Sinaitu.

Pisan je na glagoljici i do sada je pronađeno 209 listova pergamenta. Najveći deo Psaltira (177 listova) je otkriven 1850. godine od strane ruskog arhimandrita Porfirija Uspenskog, a ostala 32 lista otkrivena su 1968. godine.

Interesantni su i sinajski (srpski) papirusi pronađeni u Manastiru Svete Katarine, pisani srpskim pismom — ćirilicom.

Piers je prije svega šupak koji se povija kako vjetar puše. Čim je Velika Britanija prije par mjeseci počela da osuđuje Izrael i on je promijenio svoj narativ i počeo je da proziva Izrael za ratne zločine i genocid.
Do tad je svaki put pravdao Izrael, nije dao da se priča o genocidu, a sve goste koji su ih prozivali je na početku pitao da li osuđuju ono što je Hamas uradio u oktobru prije uništavanja Gaze i Palestinaca, te ih je konstantno prekidao i nije im dao da govore.
Ali bar od samog početka daje platformu i kritičarima Izraela da dolaze i da iznose stavove i da podstiče te diskusije i tu je bio korektan za razliku od mainstream medija.
